Nevada is home to another long running tradition, the Virginia City Hillclimb. It was first run in 1968 by the Reno Region SCCA. . It continues to this day, having been organized by many different clubs over the years.
Taking the first climb honors for Nevada, is Mt Rose Hillclimb, which started in 1958 as a club only event. It was located on the “old” Mt Rose road, outside of Reno. It opened up to all comers in 1960 and enjoyed a 5 year run.
