Texas has had an active history of sports car events. There are many clubs in the state playing host to autocrosses, tours, car shows, and road racing. At present, though, there are no hillclimbing events happening.
Mt Bonnel Hillclimb in Austin appears to have been the first one in Texas, in 1951. It was organized by the Civitan Club of Austin and from the information I have it was well received. Unfortunately I can’t find that it was held again. The next oldest recorded climb I found was in the oil town of Iraan. A very successful yearly event took place from 1953 to 1957, possibly longer.
