I found a 1952 event at Encampment. This was probably the first in the state. Another event in 1953 was in Curtis Canyon. These are the first two in the state. Do you know of any more than I have listed? Please let me know what you have….I’m sure there are more out there.
The Ten Sleep Hillclimb in Worland was the longest running with at least 25 years recorded! From all the descriptions and articles it appeared to have been quite a challenge. It ran from 1961 to at least 1985. Like Montana, the state has some great locations for hillclimbs, why so few? Probably a lot to do with the enormous size of the state and low population base.
